Flyfishing Clinic Offered
West Fork San Gabriel River


Angeles National Forest above Azusa, CA, March 14, 2008 – Have you ever fly fished in Los Angeles County? Sounds impossible? Now, the Angeles National Forest Volunteer Naturalists, California Department of Fish and Game and Bob Marriott’s Flyfishing Store are offering a hands-on flyfishing clinic on the West Fork of the San Gabriel River. The leaves are still off the trees, creating excellent visibility on this world class catch-and-release trout stream, right here in Los Angeles County! Here’s a great chance to brush up on your flycasting from the pros of Bob Marriott's Flyfishing Store. Learn about the waterscape and fish of the West Fork directly from John O’Brien of the California Department of Fish and Game.

Topics to be discussed and demonstrated include:

  3. Flyfishing Gear
  4. Flycasting and tying – Hands-on
  5. Drive-in fishing expedition up the gated West Fork – Car pool to trout pools

The goal of this one day course is to revitalize interest in flyfishing in Los Angeles and bring attention to improving your flyfishing skills.

Flyfishing Expedition: Car pool up West Fork Road

When: Saturday, April 5, 2008, 9 am - 3 pm; bring your own lunch and water

Cost: $5 cash per person; children, 10 years and over, accompanied by adult; Attendance Limited – 15 people maximum
