img_1461San Gabriel Mountains Heritage Association is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation education and environmental stewardship. We are located in the Angeles National Forest in Southern California. Our educational programs and visitor services bridge the gap between visitor needs and our local mountain resources. Through a participating agreement with the U.S. Forest Service, we carry out our mission by providing programs for schools, scouts, and families at two Forest Service educational facilities: Mt. Baldy Visitor Center and San Gabriel Canyon Education Center. Learn more about our education programs.

Our Program Managers coordinate our day-to-day programs, but our volunteers comprise the lifeblood of our organization. Our volunteers staff front counters at two visitor information centers, and help with the maintenance of exhibits and educational materials. Managed by an unpaid board of directors, we form a cross section of our local communities: retired educators, business people, artisans, AmeriCorps members, and student interns.  The uniting factor for all of us is a deep appreciation of our local mountain ecosystems and the belief that education advances the cause of preservation.

Contact us at the Mt. Baldy visitor center at (909) 982-2879 to learn more or email info@sgmha.org.

We invite you to spend a few minutes and learn more about our organization and programs. Whether leading a third-grade field trip or providing recreational tips for a family outing, we are dedicated to:

• Offering high-value educational programs

• Promoting quality outdoor experiences

• Teaching responsible use of our unique forest landscapes
